Some confusion. Saw a 1987 w150 listed. No engine information other than "8 cylinder." There was also a VIN number in the ad. According to carfax, the truck has a 360 TBI. My Haynes manual says the 10th digit, the engine code, is 'T,' which is a 318 with a 2bbl. Which is right? I know 1987 was the cutoff year for carbs, at least on 318s, but is it possible a 1987 with a later productin date got the 360 TBI? Want to know before I call seller. Thanks in advance.

Yep VIN "T" is 318 2bbl. I think some folks get the TBI fuel injection (the throttle body) confused with carburetors.
According to my source, there was no fuel injection on any engine in '87. VIN "W" is 360 4bbl.
Of course you never know...somebody could have swapped in a later 360 with TBI. I doubt it though.

Thanks Nate. It wasn't the seller's claim, it was carfax's. I assumed it was a 318 before knowing the engine code, just because it was an 87.
