I ran out of gas today (completly) out. So I got it to the gas station put 15gal of gas in and tried to start it. It will not start, I used a little starter fluid and was anle to get it started but it will not keep running, I noticed that the gas gauge stills reads "0", I have the onboard computer screen and it reads "0", My qusstion is, is there a cut off switch? I have checked all the fuses and found no problems.

May have a bad or clogged fuel pump or filter, try this:
Get a hammer (use rubber handle side) or rubber mallet would be best and hit the tank cover a few times while someone else cranks it.
If this doesn't work, there may be an electrical problem somewhere.

I agree with 96 Grand, but if it does work, don't think you solved the problem as it will happen again 200 miles from home at 11 pm. Change the fuel pump, they don't age well and hate to run dry...

I suspect the fuel pump, pissed off at having been run dry, has decided to quit

do you hear the fuel pump kick on at all? if u hear it turn on it may be that since you ran it completely dry some crap off the bottom off the tank got on the filter and has clogged it up and possibly in the lines. just a thought
good luck

I just went thru this. My '96 stopped. It has 181,000 miles on it. While someone is cranking the motor tap the bottom of the gas tank with a rubber mallet. $5.00 at Auto Zone. If it starts great but you know it is the pump. New pump at Advanced Auto w/tax $195.00. Siphon fuel into gas containers or another car. Raise and support then drop the tank. The hardest thing is to get the locking ring off. Use no less than a Craftsman Strap Wrench (Large) as I broke a lesser quality version first try.
CAUTION: RELIEVE FUEL PRESSURE IN LINES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DISCONNECT LINES FROM TANK!!!

I would think about replacing the fuel filter, if you never changed it. I try never to go below a 1/4 tank so that the filter doesn't get all the junk at the bottom of the tank.
