Got my trans rebuilt had a shift improver kit installed now trans does great. Now I think the transfer case has serious issues. When trans shifts theres a loud thunk coming from transfer case. Thought it was mounts but the shop changed them. Also when you take off from a stop there is a sound like a bell ringing and sometimes it sounds like a sqeeking sound. Checked fluid and its full. Whatever it is its getting worse because now I'm having a vibration/roaring when you go 65mph and get real noticeable when you pull a steep hill. I was going to try some Lucas stabilizer to see if it would help or do I bite the bullet and have it rebuilt???? Any sugestions? What should I have done if I do have to get it rebuilt??? The shop said a basic rebuild is going to be $400.00. Thanks Brock :help:

Everything you say, points to driveshaft(s) to me..... (Especially the 'clunk' sound and especially the 'vibration/squeak')
I'd look at the U-Joints and CV joint. In fact, you just might want to replace/rebuild all of them, just so you know where you're at... Fairly cheap.
Actually the 203 TC is a pretty bullet-proof hunk of machinery. My 79' Powerwagon has 150,000 + miles on it, and all I've ever had to do (Besides changing fluid every once in a while) was put a new rear output shaft seal on it...

We allready rebuilt the front driveshaft & cv joint plus had a new drive shaft made for the rear. Thought it was the wheel u joints or maybe the bearings so we changed them also.

Well, in that case, it sounds like there is only one thing left then... ;)

$400 for a rebuild is kinda' steep though.. you may want to shop around.
I know that in Spokane there is a shop that specalizes in drive trains and they have rebuilt 203's on the shelf, they'll install it for you, for $200 plus tax.
That may be an exceptionally good deal though, I don't know...

Thats a awsome deal!!!!! If you were closer to me I'd would drive there and have them do it.

Yeah.... But a 6,000 mile round trip.... Probably wouldn't be very 'cost effective' ... ;)
