I took my 2002 Caravan Sport, 3.3, 93K, to the dealer when the tranny wouldn't shift out of low and the speedo became erradic. The dealer diagnosed faulty input and output sensors. They were replaced. At the same time I had the tranny fluid changed, oil changed, belt replaced and new spark plugs installed. Driving the car less than a few yards I noticed the tranny problem was not repaired and returned to the shop. Another output sensor was installed. No help. Now the shop has the van and are "chasing electrical problems".

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is the mechanic at the dealer just an idiot? Did he need to reset the computer or TCM or something? Can the dealer charge me for "chasing electrical problems" if no repair was done? should i pick up the van and find another shop?

Sounds like electrical demons to me.

Basically you have these two speed sensors that MUST work for the trans and speedo to work.

If a new sensor does not fix them, something in the wiring is kaput.

If reverse doesnt work your trans is shot/dead.

Similar problems on 43k 2005 grand caravan. Only mine reflashed the computer supposedly, and mine is still acting up..

Gotta go back next week...

Kind of disheartening to see they are still having tranny problems even on the new ones . Guess I better keep my 96 Voyager with the trusty 3 speed auto , 115000 and still shifts great , 25-26 mpg on the highway . The 3.0 is certainly no acceleration monster but I guess I shouldn't expect it to be with only 150 hp on hand...
