Hey guys I got a problem, now its not a really big deal but its just bugging the hell out of me.
Now the other day I was driving around town, nice cool cloudy weather. Well, I started noticing my temperature go from 200 to about 210-215 maybe...it just bugs the hell out of me to see those temperatures. What can I do to keep it under 200 or is there something wrong. It started running hotter after the install of the AGP WGA. :gr_patrio

did you change the thermostat ? Might want to go to a 180

Actually that sounds pretty normal. Does the fan kick on?

Yeah, the fans comes on and all of that. No I haven't changed the Thermostat, wouldn't a 180 be a little unsafe. I've heard that if the radiator isn't cooling the fluid as it should, it will keep the TS open and might make the heat rise.

Don't buy a T-Stat online. I was just looking for cross #'s for 180 degree T-Stats. You'll pay like 30 bucks plus shipping online. Go to Pep Girls and get T-Stat # 29788 - 180 degree, same design as our car. If you go there and ask the idiots behind the counter for a 180 for an SRT - they won't have it. You can only find OEM parts by make/model.
Use the part #

Thanks. So the 180 will be fine with the car? I'm just concerned that the T-Stat won't close to cool the Fluid long enough and just keep the T-Stat open and overheat.

It should be fine, I haven't bought one yet... but others here in Chicago have - that's how I got the part #. I do plan to buy one before it starts getting hot tho.

Thanks! Ok, I bought it. Now...where the hell does it go? I'm an air head when it comes to mechanics...I don't even know how my car hasn't blown up, cought on fire or just break down with the list of mods I did my self. Uhmm...Help?
Pop the cap off and you can siphon some anti-freeze out of there. Remove the two bolts, remove the housing, remove the old t-stat, insert new, bolt back up, refill fluid, tighten cap and drive it. Shouldn't have to worry about air bubbles.

With the 180 T-stat you will drop the temperatures cruising as it should be, BUT sitting in traffic and slow speed driving it will still get up to or a lil over 200, not much you can do about that unless you figure out a way to control the cooling fans on/off cycle, like with one of those systems Jeg's or summits sells, only ones I have seen so far and not sure they will work on our cars.

I have to agree with Ninja on this one.... BLACK!!!!! Think about it... What car doesnt look good in black? Black is awesome!!!! ...just have someone else wash it. :D

True - cars look great in black... when they are clean. It takes me too damned long to wash mine. Where other colors can get away with a spot here or a spot there. You notice spots just tend to materialize out of nowhere 30 seconds after you just washed it!

Yeah, but you're stuck with them pillows forever. Its cool though. Me, I like to change the pillows that go in my bed.
Its not just any blue, its an Electric Blue Pearl Blue. Everyone has seen a black car, but the blue on an srt is unique well...not really...but haven't seen any other car with the same color tone. So there! Blue is the bestety best bestest!
Yeah, I washed my car today right. And I parked it away from trees, light poles well anything to keep it clear of birds. I come back out a coupke hours later and my hood looked like the birds had a bad case of the shits all over it! Damn them!

LOL! Birds suck. About three weeks ago I just got done washing/waxing - like 3 hours - complete detail inside-n-out... as I'm pulling my car around to park it a bird - from out of nowhere HE HAD TO HAVE BEEN WATCHING ME - dive bombs my car. I'm like WTF? LOL.
Blue is a really sweet color tho. When I get my Interceptor gauge and make some skins for it, I'll make you a blue one :rck:

Yeah, I test drove a black SRT before I went with the blue one, I drove the shit out of it. Scaring the dealer and my dad who was in the back seat. I was dropping gears like mad, skidding through turns and all. They both asked me to get out of the car before I can test the e-brake. As soon as I got back to the dealership the guy wanted to sell me that car. I kind of chuckled and said if he had a different color. You can tell the guy was kind of pist and said they didn't. So I went cruising through the lot and found a brown one. The car was so filthy you wouldn't think it was blue. But they washed it and that's what I ended up with.
Yeah, black is a cool but its sooo hard to keep clean. My neighbor has a chrystler 300C, I swear the next day its washed it just looks all dusty.
Yeah dude that would be cool.

I test drove one Black one on the lot - beat the snot out of it like you did, lol. Then I walked onto the showroom floor - pointed at it and said "I'll take that one." I got the "What about the one you just drove?" Me - "The test-drive beater car... with over 200 miles of a sit down shut up and hold on? I'll take that one."
Pointed back at the srt in the showroom with 2 miles and walked to the salesmans desk where i paid 20k flat for it.

Thats one thing that bothered me at first about my car... It had like 90 miles on it. Being that I really was only interested in silver, I had little choice since they didn't even make produce silver for the second half of 05 production. I only could find one other one anywhere close so I just went with it.
It's a champ at 14K miles though, so it turned out alright. It's seen over 7500rpm 3 times now (oops) and it hasn't complained a bit lol so can't ask for too much more.

Damn man, you changed the oil yet?
I can't swing it right now, but I'd like to get a second vehicle. Really I would love to get a bike, and with gas prices like this it'd be perfect. I'm not just addicted to driving this car, I'm flat out addicted to driving in general and sometimes I just literally have nothing better to do than just drive aimlessly. A nice like 600 or something would be cool. Then save mileage on the SRT-4 for less aimlessness (is that word? LOL)

:thatfunny Yeah I know right damn 6 months and only 14K. I've had my car for about 2 years come June and I have 26,600.
Andy, that's the same thing I was thinking. I want a Motorcycle to save on gas and mileage. What's the proccess on getting a license?
Andy
05-06-2006, 04:33 AM
You don't even need a license, you can just get a permit which is just a written test. You can only ride during the day and not on the highway though, and can't have a passenger. Or just don't get caught :D
To get a license you can either do a training course through the CHP, or a test at DMV.
