Well... I can't do much more to my slingshot until Mrs. Ninja-Matic and I finish selling our place and move into a house (I need more space). I still want to throw some small stuff at her tho... like pots 'n pans - but I'd even more so like to put some gauges in my car. I'm getting a dual-gauge pod for my pillar and was wondering what are some needed gauges? The skinny on the finished product for my whip is:

S2/Toys HOM Full Time w/water injection as my anti-detonation

I'd also like a shift light - not so much a huge 5" Tach mounted on my dash... but a stand-alone shift light would be great! What are some of your suggestions? :help:

I just got my Aeroforce scan gauge, it's great! I hadn't posted about it yet because I don't have it mounted yet but I've been using it and it's cool. It's how I found out I was having knock retard, and timming being pulled.

It has a shift light built in!
Reads and clears DTCs.
Measures 0-60, 1/8, 1/4

And most importantly, displays and can log 50-60 seconds of any two of the following at once:
RPM
MPH
Intake Air Temperature
Engine Coolant Temperature
Injector Pulse Width in msec.
Long Term Fuel Trim
Short Term Fuel Trim
O2 Sensor Voltage
Manifold Pressure (vacuum/boost)
Ignition Advance
Knock Retard
Throttle Position Percentage
Engine Load
2 user configurable analog inputs**

http://www.aeroforcetech.com/SRT4tech.html

It plugs right into the ODB2 to install! It shows exactly what the PCM is seeing.

Wow... that gauge is beautiful! I want to buy a few dozen and dress my Christmas tree this winter! How bright are the LED's for shifting? Can you see them during the day? That thing would be HELLA sweet when I order my pillar pod. How accurate does it read boost? It'd be great to take out the stock boost guage and throw that in there instead! Then I wouldn't have to buy pillar pods (unless I want the look). Is the stock boost guage 2 1/6" (52mm)? If so and if the boost is accurate... out with the stocker... in with the AeroForce!

Hmmm...

The boost reading is exact, as it reads EXACTLY what the PCM is reading from the various sensors.

The shift light is bright, I don't have mine mounted yet, I just have it sitting next to the boost gauge kind of... taped in place lol. I'd say mounted in a correct viewing position the lights are perfect.

Here's how some people mount it, and other gauges, there's a how to for it... A few guys have like four gauges there... You just use another stock boost gauge pod.

I haven't decided exactly what to do with mine.

BTW, depending on your color choice you can get one here http://www.srtforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246580

I bought mine through him in a group buy

G-Tech SS is $199.99 through summitracing.com . It will tell you 0-60, 0-100, 100-0, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile (times & trap speed), 60ft times, acceleration, braking and cornering g-forces, and can compute HP and torque dyno charts. AND it has a special function to accurately read engine RPM through the cig lighter (giving it the ability to produce accurate dynocharts) as well as having a built in sequential shift light that will tell you the optimum shift point in every gear. The accuracy rating is VERY high (like 0.1% or something) and you can store up to 30 runs. If that is not enough for you the G-Tech RR runs $299.99 and in addition to all the SS features, has a bunch of recording software allowing up to 2 hours of autocross data aquisition (g-forces, engine rpm, etc..) replay modes, comparision modes, and it can memorize and store data for up to 4 different vehicles. It also comes with a cool PC download cable for even more tuning fun. If you want more info go to www.gtechpro.com . I would definetly buy one if i could spare $200.....

I have a Gtech RR (it's for sale :D http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98692) it's great, but I don't think what he's looking for.

Don't get rid of it. Damn that thing is neat!

I need money! :D

The scan gauge does performance stats anyways. I should compare the results of the two

yeah but does it give:

Intake Air Temperature
Engine Coolant Temperature
Injector Pulse Width in msec.
Long Term Fuel Trim
Short Term Fuel Trim
O2 Sensor Voltage
Manifold Pressure (vacuum/boost)
Ignition Advance
Knock Retard
Throttle Position Percentage
Engine Load

I have a ScanGauge which has similar features and I like it a lot. I am missing the knock retard, injector pulse width, O2 sensor voltage, and performance times but the ScanGauge keeps record of MPG, driven miles, and drive time for a 3 day span.
Sounds like a cool gadget!

I found someone local that deals in these gauges if anyone is interested. He has quite a bit in stock if anyone is interested I can get you his e-mail.

For the areoforce gauge? Does he have an online store? I paid 225 shipped for mine, and unfortuantely it's been a slight nightmare... First, when I got it it broke somehow, got another one no problem - but it was the wrong color, so now it's been a few damn weeks and I don't have MY gauge. He gave me the option to keep this one untill he can get me my new gauge, but for some reason, it's going to be a wait. I don't entirely blame him, but it's pretty annoying. I might just get a refund.

Let me know if you know he has one that is a white screen, silver background, and silver bezel...

Ninja-Matic
05-03-2006, 05:37 PM
That's the same one I'm waiting on. I was thinking... can you take the bezel off? If you can... are there two separate pieces? i.e. the clear lens over the painted piece, or is the lens painted on the inside?

I'm gonna throw back some 300 DPI prints on clear plastic using my old skool graphic design proggies on my Apple and make an SRT logo face for mine. If I can take it apart, that is.

If I can take it apart and swap or cover the regular painted piece, I'm gonna go hit my bud at a print shop and have him silkscreen me some SRT logo faces for it. But I do like the White/Black screen, looks real clean. You can even invert it. :)

I actually haven't heard from the guy - we were PM'ing on another board - I told him to let me know if he has the silver/white/black one like on the AeroForce site and he hasn't written back yet.

Anyhow... here's a whole 2 minutes of simple editing of what I want to do to the gauge. Definately not the finished product. I have yet to draw the logo at 300 dpi (which is magazine quality print, standard for most silkscreening) so it will look a whooooole lot better when I get done. Let me know if the bezel comes off, Andy. If so I'll Adobe some stuff for us and have my bud screen some fo free.

That looks pretty tight!

Andy
05-03-2006, 07:10 PM
That looks good. I can't tell you for sure if you can take it apart. When we were doing the group buy there was talk of someone doing this exactly and a guy recently posted up his own project intending to do it. You would think that you could.

BTW, I'm interested in having the silver bezel and background peice - not white.

And yeah the white LCD is awesome. Even though I only got to look at mine for like 10 minutes lol, it's a good choice for our car IMO.

Andy
05-03-2006, 07:18 PM
Well, I take that back, you can take it apart for sure, a guy already did it

Roger that. It looks like he just printed it on paper and cut it out. Take a look at the cutout for the display - it's not smoov. When I get mine I'll have to take measurements, as that area will get nothing screened on.

Whenever I get a hold of my gauge, I'll work on a few designs and throw them by everybody. If he can print a few extra for me I'll have some for a bunch of us.

BTW - I just ordered a dual gauge pillar from MPx - should be here in 3-5 bidniss days.

What do you plan on putting in the second slot?

Ninja-Matic
05-03-2006, 07:43 PM
A wideband, if I need one. If not then I'll integrate a shift light with custom lens to fit the 52mm hole. Or another Interceptor. Hey... did you deal with a guy named xtconcepts? Did he say he's shipping the Silver with White/Black display?

He's got some on eBay but they are Silver with Blue display.

Andy
05-03-2006, 07:56 PM
Yeah that's the guy who did the group buy. He said I need to wait for him to get his next shipment or something like that to get the color I want.

Ninja-Matic

I just talked to him on the phone (he lives about 45 min from me) He doesn't have that one in stock. He has Silver/Silver Blue - Silver/Silver Green and Black/Black White. He says he also has a few extra silver bezels - I ordered the Black/Black with white screen (cuz my car is black) but I asked him if he could send a silver bezel as well. I don't have the time to pick it up this weekend cuz my friend is visiting me from out of town, so he said he'd ship it to me with no probs.

When I get it I'll get to work on some designs for an SRT faceplate and get some printed out. I'll have my bud screen a few extras for me and I'll send them out to you so you can see in person the finished product (and keep it). I'm making about 4 color schemes so you'll have your pick. If all goes well AJ will be able to send these to mass-produce for everyone that wants an SRT faceplate. It'll take me a few weeks to get some proofs screened, but das ok.
