OK guys, sorry to beat a dead horse here, but I neglected to ask a very specific question in my last post:

The A/C compressor in my 97 Neon has two electrical connectors on it. The one closest to the pulley is for the clutch (I assume). My question is, what is the other connector for (the 'green' one on the compressor body)?

The Haynes manual shows a diode assembly in parallel with the clutch coil, am I correct assuming the green connector is the diode assembly? If so, the diode assembly must be internal to the compressor, is that a true statement, does anyone know for sure, or can refer me to someone?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate any help.

Is it attached near the hose manifold? if so, it sounds like the high pressure cut-off switch.

More than likely it is the LOW pressure cutoff switch... to save your pump from burning up when you run out of refrigerant. Just a guess, i havent actually looked.
