i don't know 8's that well but there should be a bracket coming off it that bolts to the block remove that bolt and it should pull out at least thereis only one holding them on for the slant six

One trick Ive used, if there is no bracket, is to tap a punch into the dip stick tube, very litely. Grip the dip stick tube, w/ the inserted punch inside, with vise grips. then tap the vise grips with a light hammer, being very gentle, it should come out.
Ya gotta be careful, to make sure the punch is fully enclosed in the tube, or else the vise grips will distort it.........Just one idea..............good luck. ........Larry

Yeah they are a PITA to get out sometimes. I always just leave them in the block :) You can get them out though, using the method described. If you're real careful and if it is not stuck too bad, you can just use ViseGrips or good channellocks clamped at the base of it and work it back and forth to get it out.

Thinking bout my post I made concerning removing the dip stick tube, I shoulda said, instead of a ``punch``, what I used was a taper pry bar. Doubt if a straight `punch` would enter that tube enough.....
