Has anybody successfully programmed one of the three gargae door opener buttons to work with their garage door opener? I have a pretty basic, but new Genie chain drive opener and even though the EVIC says that the remote has been trained, it still doesn't open the door. It's not that big of a deal, but I still would like to know if I can get it to work. In meantime I just clip the remote onto the visor like I've always done.

Once the car unit is "trained", you have to set the control unit in the opener to accept it, just like adding a new transmitter from the opener. I think the directions are on homelink.com.

There is usually a red button on your garage door opener that you have to push, so it can learn the new opener. My car opener (3 buttons) works just fine, after I learned the correct way to program it.

I did just like the book said, pushed the little red button on the opener and still no luck. I'm not the most patient person either. I even swore at it......

desquirrel and FloridaRT are right! I did what they said and it worked first time. A little help from the Genie opener owner's manual for learning a new remote and BINGO! We've got a winner.

Thanks, guys!

The instructions on how to do it on my garage door opener were confusing, I had to read them a few times and it took a few tries, but I got it to work.

After the car learns your remote,
the garage opener has to learn the car.

On mine (garage opener) there is a little button on the lower right,
push it and a little red light comes on,

now push the car's button you want to use (the little red light shoud flash)
push the car's button again (again the little red light shoud flash)
now push the car button a third time and the door should be operating.

You don't have to see the little red light on the opener,
but keep an eye on the EVIC system because it takes a breif time for it to say "tarnsmitting".

In short,
you have to push the button on the garage opener
and then push your car's button 3 times.
