:help: Hey everybody! I'm new here and I'm desperate and in need of HELP! I have an 86 D100. My problem is with the vacuum lines that go to the AC/heater control. It seems that the junction that the vacuum lines connect to has disintegrated. I am left with 7 vac lines from the control switch all of which are black with the exception of 1 red one. On the other side there are 6 lines of different colors black which is the main vac feed from the intake. The other colors are red, light green, green, yellow, brown. I have been to my local junk yards with no luck. I have located 3 trucks but none of them have the heater/AC vac system intact. I would appreciate any help/info about which line goes where. A drawing would be nice! Thanks

You might check with this guy to see if trucks are the same.
I just went through the same problem on my 86 D150 last year. I have a factory repair manual and it didn't give enough info to make the connections at the point of the problem. What I ended up doing was splicing all the lines with some good vacuum hose that was small enough to be a snug fit. I started with the main vacuum connection and the rest was trial and error. I added a very small amount of super glue for good measure after I had the connections right. It's worked perfectly since.

Oh I forgot to mention- I left the good connector attached and slipped the vacuum line onto the lines from the crumbled end and then used a dab of super glue to be sure the new lines stayed on the existing connector. One of the lines on the end that didn't crumble is a vacuum relief which doesn't connect to the lines from the a/c-heater plenum. Leave it open or nothing will release once vacuum is applied to actuate it (or at least not for a long time till it leaks down). Sorry I can't remember the color code. Had I seen this just a week ago I could have told you the exact color matches as I had the dash apart to install a volt meter and to remove and lube the speedo cable. It was all right there in front of me.

I had the same problem on my 84 ramcharger, all those little hoses had come righ out, and the connector had crumbled apart,, I was lucky and found a truck in the junk yard that had all the hoses and new controls, so i just swaped that one in. good luck .

Hey BillyJoe. I just joined Dodge talk and read your post on vacuum line's. I imagine by now you have your problem fixed but if you don't, I have a diagram with color code's that works on my 86 d-150.
If I can help, let me know.

How about going ahead and posting the diagram or a 'link' to it anyway. The vacuum line/connection issue with the older Dodge HVAC system is an ongoing and recurring problem. I would be sure to download and print it to add to my Dodge notebook of misc. info I've collected over the years.
Thanks,

What works well on my 86 Dodge D150. After marking and installing 18in. lengths of tubing on all seven ports on rear of my six pushbutton dash control, Each long enough to reach over behind the glove box for connections to colored tubing.
There should be numbers stamped onto rear of push button control unit.
Starting at No.1 Plugged off. Not used.
No. 2 Goes to light green
No. 3 Goes to Brown
No. 4 Goes to Yellow
No. 5 Goes to Red
No. 6 Goes to Black Vacuum Supply
No. 7 Goes to Dark Green Joining into a Dark Green and Gray
Numbers on back side of my control is.
Bottom left to right 1 2 3 4 Top Left to right 5 6 7
All my functions work perfect. Good Luck Y'All
