I hope someone can help me with this little equation. I measured my rod connecting journal and got 1.878 the haynes manual says that it should be between 1.8894 and 1.8900 so i have a difference of 0.0114 . I need a thicker bearing to take up some space but im not sure which size to get. Can someone help me out with the numbers? And am i getting an "Undersize" or "Oversize" bearing? I know the terminology is different between different people..

Hmmm 1.878. That is deffinatelly smaller in DIA. You will need an undersized bearing.
I work with this type of stuff everyday. But on different types of things like piston rods for Hyd lifts. The bearing is held in place by something isnt it??? I never had an engine that far apart, but im going to guess that if you get a bearing that is smaller on the Inside Dia it is going to be smaller on the OD to. That could cause a problem when you go to tighten it down in place. Maybe!!!!! Im not ceratain. What kind of tolerance is acceptable . If the book calls for 1.8904 to 1.8900 that is a pretty close tolerance. Less than a Thousanth of an inch. Like .0004 diff. What does te inside of your old bearing mic? If you can take the peice to the Shop and try some diff bearings on it to see whats sloppy and not.
If that dont help send me the Rod the bearing goes on and I will Chrome plate it up to 1.8900 LOL Just kidding. I could do that tho. lol. Good luck with it man. I don't think I was much help to ya but I tried. Good luck once again. later
