is there a particular place, or book I can reference, when people say
"this part is rare"
and I can find out how rare - "rare" is .......
for example - pop out windows in a Plymouth Road Runner
six pack

RM21.............. has pop out windows, RM23............ has roll-up rear windows.
But.........This isn't an option, it's a body style.
To answer your question, it's a gray area......Chrysler breaks options down as a percentage of total. eg 3% had luggage racks. So you never really know what the exact number is.

Also need to look at how desireable the option is. A quote that has stuck with me, is: "What was once poor sales has now become rare and limited production". A part or option may be rare because nobody really wanted it, not because it was so hard to come by.
As far as pop out windows, I agree with six pack. Coupes had an actual post between the front and rear windows, and the rear window then was a pop out deal. Hardtops had no post between the windows, and both windows rolled down. Personally, I like the hard tops, because when both windows are down, there is nothing there...

How can you define RARE?? It is hard to make a call on that one. I do agree with the post above that hard to sell or options that didnt go over too well are now RARE or hardly seen. But its hard to place a part or option as RARE. Dont ya think??

yes I agree
and in some cases, when things were not from the factory - but "dealer installed" throws another log on the fire, I guess ..
