Good find. I've been thinking of adapting the GM HEI to the 318, for some time now... I use a GM HEI on my Jeep CJ7 4.2L engine. It was one of the best upgrades I've ever made. Many Jeepers I know are mounting the GM HEI module inside the OEM JEEP FOMOCO module housing (using it as a heat sink). It's a good module, and very, very robust.
The swap and mix of modules can be done without the module mount as long as you're willing to wire the module, know what each pin does and provide a heat sink.

Does anyone know what RPM the GM HEI module's rev limiter is set to?
Are there different ones like MoPar has the standard, Orange and Chrome...

Do you have a schematic for doing this? I'm thinking that if you can eliminate the ballast resistor (Which always seems to be a troublesome thing) and be able to run a full 13-14 volts to the coil, which I would assume give you a hotter spark, it's a win-win situation.... :D
