Ive been following the posts recently, regarding the converting of the ESC system to the standard chrysler distributor .
My Dodge is an 87, D150 w/ 318 2bbl, non feedback, single pickup dist. So far the ESC seems to be working fine. But when it fails, I`d like to convert it to the older type system, a `kit` has been mentioned.
My question is this...According to my service manual, the ESA (electronic spark advance ) computer also controls the torque converter lockup....If I convert over, it seems I will lose my converter lockup feature, which I would hate to lose, it does save some gas........
Is there any way to keep this lockup feature, while running the distributor with the standard resistor and the spark control unit??
Thanks, this forum really is great! Im getting an education on Dodges, even at my advanced age................Larry
